Brooklyn Store Raises Mechanical Bird Price to $15 Million After Kelly Clarkson Dispute
According to NBC News, Art of Play said on October 15 that the mechanical bird Molly, previously described as permanently attached to the wall and not for sale, is now listed for $15 million following a public dispute with singer Kelly Clarkson, who had earlier accused the store of treating her as if she could not afford the item. Clarkson posted on X on October 10 that staff at the Brooklyn boutique treated her as if she lacked the means to purchase a $15,000 automaton, prompting her to leave and criticize the store, as reported by Us Weekly. The shop responded, saying the bird was not for sale, thanking supporters and offering alternative items, according to TODAY. com.
Security footage released by Variety captured Clarkson's brief five-minute visit to the store, during which staff discussed the bird. The price of the bird was later raised to $15 million, a development reported by USA Today. Clarkson performed several hits at a corporate event in Las Vegas on October 10 while the dispute continued, as noted by Page Six.
