Man seriously injured after entering tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
A man was badly hurt when he entered the Amur tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in northern England, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.
A man suffered serious injuries on Saturday after walking into the tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police said. The incident occurred at about 1:35 p.m., and park officials confirmed that the tigers remained inside the two-acre reserve, posing no risk to other visitors.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service dispatched two ambulances, an air ambulance and a doctor to the scene. Details of the victim’s condition have not been released.
"We are working closely with the authorities to ascertain exactly what happened," the wildlife park said in a statement posted on its website.
The park’s "Land of the Tigers" attraction, opened in 2011, is designed for endangered Amur (Siberian) tigers and features a 300-meter raised walkway that allows guests to view the animals in a woodland and grassland setting with a waterfall pool.
Authorities noted that similar incidents have occurred at other zoos and wildlife parks, citing a 2024 case in New Jersey where a woman jumped a fence and a 2016 fatal attack on a zookeeper in Florida.
