George Clooney Expresses Grief Over Presley Gerber's Death at London Event
George Clooney said the loss of Presley Gerber was devastating for both families while attending the Albies fundraiser in London, and he and Amal Clooney are supporting the Gerber family.
George Clooney spoke about the death of Presley Gerber during an interview at the Albies charity event hosted by The Clooney Foundation of Justice at London’s Natural History Museum on Oct. 9. When asked how the families might honor Gerber’s memory, Clooney said they were not yet in a position to discuss it, adding that the loss was "one of the most devastating things" for both families.
A source told PEOPLE that Clooney and his wife, Amal, have been spending time with Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, taking shifts to ensure the family is not alone while arrangements are made. The source said Clooney, who co-owns the Casamigos tequila brand with Rande Gerber, has long been close to the Gerber children.
Presley Gerber, 23, died on Sept. 20 from an apparent overdose that led to cardiac arrest, according to Santa Monica police records. Prior to his death, he had spoken publicly about his struggles with mental health and addiction recovery.
