White House seeks new press secretary after Katie Zacharia's five-day stint
On 16 October, the White House said it is searching for a new press secretary after Katie Zacharia left the post after just five days, senior officials told Newsweek. Zacharia, a senior communications adviser at Trump Media, had been appointed by President Donald Trump on 13 October to replace Karoline Leavitt, according to Reuters. She held a brief 15-minute inaugural briefing that focused on the administration’s agenda, NBC News reported.
Questions about her legal credentials arose after a senior official confirmed she had not passed the California bar exam, a point echoed by NBC and CNN, and she later told CBS that she never passed any bar exam. On 16 October, after the brief tenure and the controversy, she departed the role, NBC News reported.
