An internal email to government employees outlined preliminary parking and driving restrictions, noting that State Street, Montgomery Street and parts of Madison Street would be closed from 11 a.m. on Friday and that vehicles parked there would be towed overnight on Thursday. The Oncenter surface lot would be closed Thursday evening, while its parking garage would remain open until 10:30 a.m. on Friday before exiting traffic is redirected eastward.
The Secret Service declined to comment on the closures, and the mayor’s office did not respond to inquiries. Local businesses and schools prepared for disruptions; the Syracuse City School district cancelled after-school activities, and several sports events were rescheduled. Bus operations may also be affected, according to a transit authority post, though specific routes were not identified.
