James Talarico Returns to Campaign, Holds Town Hall After Flu Absence
Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico held a town hall in Texas, outlining his proposals on a public-health option, an “all-of-the-above” energy plan and support for Ukraine after a recent flu-related hiatus, CNN reported. Earlier in the campaign, Talarico was absent for about twelve days after contracting the flu, a period that Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and President Donald Trump used to question his whereabouts, NBC News said. He reappeared on the campaign trail on a, attending the Austin City Limits Music Festival, which CBS News confirmed.
Security-camera footage released by his campaign later showed he had been at his Austin home during the October illness, countering rumors he was receiving treatment elsewhere, Fox News reported. Talarico told reporters the absence was due to influenza, not mental-health treatment, and welcomed a debate with Paxton, NBC News noted.
