College football schedule adjusted as Hurricane Isaias approaches

Resumen

Several college football games in the Southeast have been rescheduled or canceled as Hurricane Isaias nears the Gulf Coast, while the Alabama-Georgia matchup remains on its original date.

The approach of Hurricane Isaias, now a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 120 mph, has prompted adjustments to multiple college football games scheduled for Saturday. The storm is forecast to make landfall Friday night near Pensacola, Florida, bringing up to 15 inches of rain and a risk of tornadoes, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The only FBS game to change its kickoff time so far is Rice's visit to East Carolina, moved from 4 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET in Greenville, North Carolina. In Alabama, Bethune-Cookman’s game at Alabama A&M will still start at 7 p.m. central despite forecasts of up to three inches of rain in Huntsville.

Other affected contests include: - Northeastern State at West Florida, canceled as a precaution in Pensacola. - Florida A&M at Alabama State, shifted to Friday afternoon in Montgomery, with related homecoming events also rescheduled. - Southern at Prairie View A&M, delayed by one hour to a 4 p.m. ET start. - Davidson at Presbyterian, moved up to a noon ET kickoff in South Carolina. - East Tennessee State at The Citadel, set for a noon start. - South Carolina State at Charleston Southern, also moved to a noon kickoff.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham warned that central Alabama could see impacts Saturday afternoon before the storm moves into Tennessee and Kentucky early Sunday. Coastal areas of Alabama are currently under a hurricane warning, while officials continue to monitor conditions ahead of the Alabama-Georgia game, which remains scheduled for Saturday night.
