Trump criticizes Fox News for covering Democratic Senate candidates
President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social accusing Fox News of favoring Democratic candidates in upcoming Senate races, targeting candidates in Michigan and Nebraska.
President Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform to complain that Fox News was giving more coverage to Democratic Senate candidates than to Republicans ahead of the 2024 midterm elections. He specifically referenced Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee in Michigan, and Dan Osborn, an independent candidate challenging Republican Senator Pete Ricketts in Nebraska. Trump claimed the network’s interviews with those candidates were excessive and that Fox was not providing comparable exposure for Republican officeholders.
"FoxNews spends more time covering the Jihadist and Dumocrat candidates than they do the good old fashioned Republicans, the people that have saved America, and are making it great again," Trump wrote.
He also expressed frustration that Fox News had not highlighted his recent rally activities, suggesting the network was promoting Democrats and neglecting “MAGA” supporters.
Political commentators noted the irony of Trump demanding partisan coverage from a network he previously barred from the White House, citing his earlier bans on outlets he deemed one-sided.
A recent Mitchell Research poll showed El-Sayed leading Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan by four points, while a SurveyUSA poll indicated Osborn was ahead of incumbent Ricketts in Nebraska. Both races are considered competitive as Democrats aim to flip several Senate seats.
