Trump criticizes Fox News coverage after weekend rallies draw smaller crowds
President Donald Trump accused Fox News of ignoring his recent rallies, which attracted fewer attendees than in previous years, while the White House continued to limit access for certain media outlets.
President Donald Trump used his Truth Social account on Sunday to claim that Fox News had not covered his recent rallies in Ohio, Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma, describing the events as "absolutely phenomenal" and warning that the network could lose viewers if it continued to omit his appearances. The president also reiterated his assertion that his rallies remain fully attended, contradicting reports that some venues, such as the University of South Alabama, were not filled to capacity.
Fox News did air brief segments on the rallies, including a report on the Ohio event and coverage of other candidates, but the network typically did not broadcast the speeches live. A separate Fox program, "The Five," featured rally footage the following Monday. Conservative commentator Sean Hannity aired a 36-minute segment from the Oklahoma rally on Thursday.
The president's remarks came amid ongoing disputes between the White House and several news organizations. The administration has barred POLITICO from traveling on Air Force One and previously removed CNN from the presidential television pool, replacing it with outlets considered friendly to the administration. A federal judge is set to hear arguments on whether to extend a court order that temporarily restored credentials to the excluded outlets.
Trump also responded to a poll showing low support among Latino voters by dismissing the questioning as "fake news" and emphasizing rally attendance as evidence of his popularity.
