Seahawks sign former Commanders practice-squad running back Robert Henry Jr.

Resumen

Seattle added undrafted running back Robert Henry Jr. from Washington's practice squad after waiving safety AJ Finley, while veteran Joe Mixon was not retained.

Seattle Seahawks announced the signing of running back Robert Henry Jr., who had been on the Washington Commanders' practice squad. Henry, an undrafted UTSA graduate, was waived by Washington during final roster cuts and is now expected to compete for playing time after injuries sidelined other backs.

The move required the Seahawks to waive safety AJ Finley for the second time in six weeks, creating a roster spot for Henry. Finley had been on the practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster but was promoted to the active roster before the season opener due to secondary injuries.

Seattle also placed running back Jacardia Wright on the practice-squad injured reserve, opening an additional practice-squad slot. The team has not yet announced who will fill that vacancy.

"We evaluated all options and felt adding Henry gives us depth at running back," a Seahawks spokesperson said.

The team previously decided not to sign veteran running back Joe Mixon after completing his physical.
