Chiefs remain unbeaten at 4-0 despite injury concerns

摘要

Kansas City stays perfect through four weeks, bolstered by strong offense and new running back, while injuries to receivers and the offensive line raise questions about depth.

Kansas City has improved on its 6-11 record from last season, winning its first four games and defeating a Raiders team that also started 3-0. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who recovered from an ACL tear, appears healthy and is performing well. The addition of free-agent running back Kenneth Walker has added a new dimension to the offense, contributing to the Chiefs ranking third in DVOA and fourth in offensive EPA, while the defense ranks ninth in EPA allowed.

Injuries, however, remain a concern. Wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is out with a severe ankle injury, and Rashee Rice suffered a hamstring strain. The offensive line continues to miss left tackle Josh Simmons, who has been sidelined all season. Walker has not yet carried a heavy workload, and his performance will be critical if he or other key players miss time.

Despite these issues, the Chiefs have a favorable schedule through the next six weeks, including a bye in Week 5 and matchups against teams such as the Chargers, Seahawks, Broncos, Jets, Falcons, and Cardinals, all of which are expected to be competitive. The team’s early success suggests the franchise’s recent dynasty remains intact.

"The Chiefs are undefeated and showing promising balance through four weeks," a league analyst noted.

The power rankings released after Week 4 placed the Chiefs at No. 3, behind the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
