49ers hold No. 1 spot in NFL power rankings ahead of Week 5
The San Francisco 49ers remain top-ranked as the NFL power rankings are updated for Week 5, with three teams unbeaten and five winless after four games.
Three NFL teams – the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs – are unbeaten at 4-0 entering Week 5, while five clubs – the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans – have yet to record a win. The latest power rankings place the 49ers at the summit, noting their defense has allowed just 64 points and quarterback Brock Purdy has thrown 11 touchdown passes with a single interception. The Vikings sit at third, highlighted for a defense that has limited opponents to one or fewer scrimmage touchdowns in three consecutive games. The Chiefs remain second despite injuries to key receivers.
Teams in the middle of the list include the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills, each holding a 2-2 record. The New York Giants lead the NFC East at 3-1, while the Cleveland Browns sit atop the AFC North with a 3-1 record. At the bottom, the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans are winless after four weeks.
The rankings will be revised after the final Week 4 matchup between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
