NFLPA condemns alleged off-field remarks by line judge toward Cardinals tight end

Résumé

The NFL Players Association said a line judge's comments to Arizona tight end Trey McBride during a game were unacceptable and called for officials to be held to the same standards as players.

During a Sunday matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Giants, a CBS broadcast captured an exchange between line judge Jeff Seeman and Cardinals tight end Trey McBride. The interaction appeared to involve the official speaking to the player, prompting speculation about the content of the remarks.

NFL Players Association executive director JC Tretter said the behavior was unacceptable, noting that players are regularly held accountable for similar conduct. > "This kind of behavior from an official towards a player is unacceptable. Players are consistently held accountable when the roles are reversed. We expect the NFL to hold officials to the same standard," he said.

An NFL spokesperson told PFT that the league will investigate the incident.
