Shanahan jokes about Purdy's turnaround after 49ers beat Broncos

Resumen

San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan made a light-hearted comment on quarterback Brock Purdy's second-half improvement following a 24-14 victory over Denver.

San Francisco extended its unbeaten start to the season with a 24-14 win over the Denver Broncos at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, quarterback Brock Purdy threw two touchdown passes in the second half, helping the 49ers pull away.

When asked about Purdy's performance, head coach Kyle Shanahan said, "Yeah, I grabbed him and said, ‘Don’t throw any more incompletions,’" adding that the quarterback responded and delivered better looks in the latter half.

Purdy's first touchdown came in the third quarter on a short pass to Deebo Samuel, and his second was a 56-yard strike to George Kittle that gave San Francisco a 24-17 lead late in the game. The extra point by Eddy Piñeiro completed the scoring.

After the win, Purdy noted that the team had struggled with small mistakes early on but credited a key punt return by Siran Neal for shifting momentum. He said the adjustment period highlighted the importance of playing a full four-quarter game.

Through four games this season, Purdy has accumulated 1,007 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and one interception, keeping him in early MVP discussions. The 49ers next travel to Seattle to face the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks.
