Zach Bryan dons "Free Palestine" shirt at Gillette Stadium concert
Singer Zach Bryan wore a shirt bearing the slogan "Free Palestine" during his Friday performance at Gillette Stadium, weeks after rapper Macklemore was barred from a similar venue for pro-Palestinian remarks.
Singer Zach Bryan displayed a "Free Palestine" shirt, along with the phrase "An appeal to heaven" and a pine-tree logo, while performing the first of two shows at Gillette Stadium on Friday. Several members of his band wore shirts with comparable messages.
The phrase "An appeal to heaven" dates to the Revolutionary War and was formerly part of Massachusetts' maritime flag, according to a 2024 Associated Press report.
The appearance follows the removal of rapper Macklemore from Ed Sheeran's "Loop" tour dates at the same venue after Macklemore voiced pro-Palestinian comments at a MetLife Stadium concert. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said Macklemore's remarks and a history of antisemitic rhetoric would "cross that line," leading to his exclusion from the September 25-26 shows.
Macklemore later pledged a $1 million donation to Palestinian causes and urged Kraft to match it. Kraft responded that he had already discussed matching Sheeran's own $2 million pledge with the pop star.
Gillette Stadium officials have not yet commented on Bryan's shirt.
