Commanders fans heavily represented in London loss to Colts
Despite a crowd of over 60,000 largely wearing Commanders colors, Washington fell 30-13 to Indianapolis, with backup quarterback Marcus Mariota exiting early due to a knee injury.
Washington's designated-home game in London saw a strong turnout of Commanders supporters, according to Indianapolis safety Camryn Bynum, who noted the fan base traveled well despite the six-hour flight. The stadium, which held more than 60,000 spectators, was reported to be dominated by maroon jerseys. The Commanders were unable to capitalize on the support, losing 30-13 to the Colts. The defeat was compounded by a knee injury to backup quarterback Marcus Mariota, forcing seventh-round rookie Athan Kaliakmanis to assume extended playing time.
"I think out of all the teams I’ve played overseas, [the Commanders] is the fanbase that traveled the best that I’ve seen," Bynum said. "Maybe that’s because they’re on the east coast, and so it’s a closer flight? But it is still six hours for them, so I don’t know. They did travel really well."
