Steelers trade cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to Dallas Cowboys
The Pittsburgh Steelers have traded second-round pick Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys after contract negotiations stalled, with terms of the deal still undisclosed.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have sent cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys, ending a contract stalemate that had left the young player unlikely to play for Pittsburgh. Details of the trade have not been released, and it remains to be seen whether Dallas will reach a new agreement with Porter.
Porter, a second-round selection in the 2023 draft, is currently under a contract that would pay him $3.924 million in 2026. The Cowboys could retain him through that season and potentially apply the franchise tag in 2027 if a longer deal is not reached.
Both Porter and former Dallas linebacker Micah Parsons share the same agent, David Mulugheta of Athletes First, who also represents wide receiver George Pickens, another player traded from Pittsburgh to Dallas in 2025. Pickens has not yet received a new contract from the Cowboys and was franchise-tagged for 2026, a tender that is considered below market value for his position.
Further information about the trade and any forthcoming contract negotiations is expected to be released in the coming hours.
