Trump urges South Korea to commit to Alaska LNG project, warns of higher costs
President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House on 5 October that South Korea must decide promptly whether to join the $50 billion Alaska liquefied natural gas project, warning that the United States would increase charges if the country delayed. Earlier, Trump announced that South Korea would invest up to $54 billion in the Alaska LNG pipeline as part of a broader $200 billion U. S.
energy investment package. South Korean officials later clarified that no investment decision had been reached and that the president’s claim exceeded any agreed terms.
