Week 6 college football matchups draw focus on Georgia-Alabama, Texas-Oklahoma and other key games
Analyst predictions highlight player matchups, personnel advantages and spread picks for several Week 6 contests, including Florida State vs. Louisville and Iowa at Washington.
Week 6 of the 2026 college football season sees preseason expectations wane as conference losses take on heightened importance. The slate features marquee games such as Georgia versus Alabama and the Red River Rivalry, alongside several ranked teams facing challenging road trips.
For the Florida State–Louisville game, Louisville opens as a 3.5-point favorite. Analysts note that Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson, a preseason All-ACC selection, has seen limited production this year but could become a focal point against a Louisville secondary that allows over 260 passing yards per game. The Seminoles' defense, which recorded ten sacks and limited Virginia to 37 rushing yards last week, is expected to complement any offensive gains. The prediction favors Florida State to cover the spread, with a projected score of 34-31.
In the No. 20 Iowa visit to Washington, the Huskies are listed at –3.5. Washington quarterback Demond Williams has struggled after early-season injuries to the running backs, posting sub-250-yard passing games and enduring 12 sacks in recent outings. Iowa, rebounding from a loss to Ohio State, is seen as having the edge, particularly if Washington’s running game remains ineffective. The forecast gives Iowa the advantage, with a pick of Iowa +3.5.
"If the Seminoles can maintain their defensive momentum alongside their offensive output, Mike Norvell's team has a good chance to climb to a respectable 4-2 at the midway point of the regular season," the analyst said.
"With a running game looking to get back on track and a defense that travels, look for Iowa to take advantage of a reeling Washington team in Seattle," the analyst added.
