New York Times Games director killed in Dublin, California; parents-in-law arrested
Jonathan McKinsey, a director of engineering for New York Times Games, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Dublin, California, and his wife's parents were taken into custody on suspicion of murder.
A 40-year-old New York Times Games engineering director was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the Dublin Sports Grounds on Saturday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene, local authorities said. Police officers responding to 911 calls located the victim and, with assistance from witnesses, quickly identified two suspects who remained at the location. The suspects, identified as 77-year-old Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both residents of Dublin, are the victim's parents-in-law. They were arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Dublin Police Services did not immediately comment on the investigation, which remains ongoing and has not disclosed a motive. The department thanked witnesses and community members for their cooperation, noting that it helped secure the arrests. Zhang and Chen are scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday at the East County Hall of Justice.
Court records indicate that McKinsey had been involved in several legal matters, including a child-abuse case and domestic-violence restraining order requests filed by him and his wife in 2025, as well as a divorce filing in December 2025. No further details about these cases were released.
