White Sox выиграли первую игру серии Wild Card AL, ведут Astros со счётом 1-0

Кратко

Чикаго обыграл Хьюстон со счётом 6-2 в первой игре серии Wild Card Американской лиги, получив преимущество 1-0.

Chicago White Sox defeated the Houston Astros 6-2 on Tuesday night at Daikin Park to capture a 1-0 lead in the American League Wild Card series. The White Sox opened the scoring in the first inning after two walks and a throwing error, followed by a sacrifice fly. Colson Montgomery added a solo home run in the second inning, and a two-run shot by Nelson Velazquez extended the lead to 6-2.

Houston’s bullpen, which had been used in a similar fashion the previous day, was unable to contain Chicago’s offense. Grant Taylor closed the game for the White Sox, recording five strikeouts over 2.1 innings.

Rookie pitcher Hagen Smith delivered three scoreless innings, allowing only two baserunners, while the Astros relied on long reliever A.J. Blubaugh, Bryan King and Miguel Ullola in a bullpen-only approach.

The victory marks Chicago’s first postseason win since 2021 and follows a dramatic turnaround from a 41-121 record in 2024. Houston will start Hunter Brown, who posted a 3.19 ERA after returning from injury, in the series-deciding game, while the White Sox will counter with Sean Burke.
