Nor'easter prompts archaeological assessment of possible 1884 shipwreck on Nantucket
A maritime institute said it has requested an archaeological assessment on 29 September after a recent nor'easter uncovered weathered timbers on Miacomet Beach that may belong to the 1884 schooner Warren Sawyer. Researchers said the timbers likely came from the Warren Sawyer, which sank off Nantucket while carrying cotton and scrap iron. Earlier reports noted the storm also caused widespread power outages and a fatality in New York City.
