Mancini says financial scandal verdict does not affect him

Resumen

Italy coach Roberto Mancini said he is not worried about the Premier League's guilty verdict against Manchester City, describing the issue as the club's problem, not his.

Roberto Mancini, who coached Manchester City from 2009 to 2013 and now leads Italy, told reporters in Paris that the Premier League’s ruling on the club’s financial breaches does not concern him personally. He said the matter is "City's problem, unfortunately," and reiterated that the alleged double contract he held with the club is not his issue.

The Premier League announced on Tuesday that Manchester City was guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of its financial rules between the 2009-10 and 2017-18 seasons. Among the accusations is a failure to provide accurate details of player and manager payments, with reports that the club may have avoided about £12 million in tax and national-insurance contributions linked to Mancini’s salary.

Der Spiegel reported in 2018 that Mancini’s base salary of £1.45 million was reportedly doubled for advisory work with a club in Abu Dhabi. Mancini, however, declined to comment on the specifics of the case, focusing instead on his role with the Italian national team ahead of a Nations League match in France.
