Case Keenum leads Bears to 27-7 win over Eagles

Resumen

The Chicago Bears defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-7 on Monday night, with 38-year-old quarterback Case Keenum throwing for 247 yards and a rushing touchdown, becoming the oldest Bears player to do so.

Case Keenum started for the Chicago Bears in place of the injured Caleb Williams and guided the team to a 27-7 victory over the previously unbeaten Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night. Keenum completed 24 of 34 passes for 247 yards and two touchdowns and added a one-yard rushing touchdown, making him the oldest player in Bears history (38 years, 223 days) to record a rushing score.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson praised Keenum’s performance, saying, "I thought he did an extraordinary job. When the running game’s not going, as a play-caller, being able to lean into the passing game, knowing that our guys are trying to protect for him, he’s going to get the ball out and go to the right guy in time, take care of the football, good decisions. 24-of-34, almost 250 yards, two touchdowns; he just played really efficient football, and I couldn't be more proud of him for that."

Keenum, who is 38, became the oldest Bears player to score a rushing touchdown, surpassing a record set by Dave Krieg. After the game, Keenum reflected on his career, noting the effort required to stay competitive and expressing that achieving such moments had been a lifelong dream.

The Bears’ defense limited the Eagles’ offense for three quarters, while Keenum’s passing averaged 12.4 yards per attempt against blitzes and 9.9 yards when pressured. Chicago ran the ball from under center on 58% of plays, the highest rate since late 2025, and posted a season-high 46.2% rushing success rate and an 85.7% passing success rate.

Johnson added, "He knows where everyone’s supposed to be on every single play, and so he’s really quick to recognize coverage. He knows why we’re calling the play, what we’re looking for, and if we’re not getting that, he’s accelerating through it extremely quickly."

The win moved the Bears to a 2-1 record. Johnson did not confirm the starter for the upcoming Week 4 game against the New York Jets.
