Dolly Parton's nephew and longtime security chief dismissed weeks after her death

Summary

Bryan Seaver, who managed security for Dolly Parton's properties for over 20 years, was terminated shortly after announcing her death, prompting him to criticize the unexplained changes.

Bryan Seaver, who had overseen security for Dolly Parton's residences and related sites for more than two decades, was removed from his role within weeks of the singer’s death in August. Seaver, the nephew of the late country star and son of her sister Cassie Ann, had been the family’s chosen spokesperson when he announced Parton’s passing on Aug. 25 at age 80.

According to a report, Seaver and his security firms received notice of immediate dismissal from all of Parton’s properties, and new security staff were installed at her Nashville home, museum, warehouse and downtown residence.

In a statement, Seaver said he and his team were “dismayed by the unexpected and, so far, unexplained actions” taken since Parton’s death and suggested the changes might be financially motivated. He added that they remain committed to protecting the family and would not be intimidated by actions he believes are “in bad faith and with the intent to profit.”

Seaver inherited the security position from his father, Larry, a former Huntsville police officer who married Parton’s younger sister. He highlighted the family connection when he announced the singer’s death.
