Packers coach says it's too early to decide on Jayden Reed's status

Resumen

Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur said the team cannot determine whether wide receiver Jayden Reed will return this season, citing his recent injury and competition from rookie Matthew Golden.

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters that it is "way too early" to decide if wide receiver Jayden Reed, who missed several games with a neck injury, will be active for the remainder of the season. Reed has been used primarily in three-receiver sets, running 27 routes in that formation and only three routes from other personnel groups.

The rookie Matthew Golden, a first-round pick, saw a significant increase in playing time, leading the team with 40 routes and 12 targets in Week 1. Golden’s performance will factor into Reed’s role as the team evaluates its depth at the receiver position.

Reed finished the season with 19 receptions for 207 yards and one touchdown in seven games before the injury sidelined him. If he cannot surpass Golden in training camp, he may remain a lower-priority option in the Packers' offense.

"It's way too early to determine whether Jayden Reed resumes playing this season," LaFleur said.

The Packers have not provided a timeline for Reed’s recovery, and his status will be reassessed as the offseason progresses.
