Bears quarterback Caleb Williams listed as week-to-week after hamstring strain
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams suffered a right hamstring injury in the loss to Minnesota and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, coach Ben Johnson said.
Chicago quarterback Caleb Williams was helped off the field after pulling his right hamstring during the Bears' 24-17 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Coach Ben Johnson said the injury is being treated as a week-to-week issue and that an MRI performed Monday will determine the severity of the strain. Johnson does not expect Williams to practice this week but has not ruled him out for the upcoming Week 3 matchup.
Williams' visible reaction to the injury, including being escorted on a cart and covering his face with a towel, sparked commentary on social media and sports talk shows. On "The Craig Carton Show," host Craig Carton criticized the quarterback's on-field demeanor, suggesting it appeared exaggerated. > "I don’t quite understand why people immediately thought, ‘Oh my God, it’s his Achilles.’ Oh, that’s right – it’s because he acted like it," Carton said.
The Bears organization has not indicated that the injury is season-ending, and medical staff will continue to monitor Williams' recovery. Fans will await further updates ahead of the team's next game.
