Ole Miss rises to No. 4 as SEC secures ten spots in AP Top 25
Ole Miss moved up to fourth after beating LSU, while the SEC placed ten teams in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Sunday.
Ole Miss advanced to No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 after a 32-24 victory over LSU, marking the Rebels' first top-five ranking since last season. LSU fell three places to No. 10. Texas remained No. 1 for a second consecutive week, followed by Georgia, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Indiana in the top six.
Florida entered the poll at No. 21 after a 44-39 road win over Auburn, and Mississippi State returned at No. 24, its first appearance since 2022. Both programs are unbeaten, with Florida at 3-0 under first-year coach Jon Sumrall and Mississippi State winning back-to-back road games for the first time since 2014.
Louisville rose seven spots to No. 16 after defeating SMU, while Texas A&M dropped from No. 9 to No. 23 following a loss to Kentucky. The poll includes ten SEC teams – Texas, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, Missouri, Florida, Texas A&M and Mississippi State – the seventh occurrence of at least ten SEC members in a regular-season ranking.
Other conference representations: the Big Ten holds seven spots, the Big 12 four, the ACC three and independent Notre Dame at No. 3. Ohio State remains in the top ten, extending its streak of consecutive Top 25 appearances to 100 weeks.
Upcoming matchups feature several ranked-vs-ranked games, including Texas (No. 1) versus Tennessee (No. 14) and Ole Miss (No. 4) against Florida (No. 21).
