Trump says proposed Arlington arch would also serve as a military complex
President Donald Trump announced that a planned 250-foot triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery would be designed to house drones, sniper positions and ammunition, describing it as a top-grade military complex.
President Donald Trump said the 250-foot triumphal arch he has proposed to build across Arlington National Cemetery would also function as a military complex. In a post on his social-media platform, he wrote that, at the "strong request of the United States Military" and for national-security purposes, the structure would store and enable rapid deployment of large numbers of drones, sniper teams on the roof and plaza, and large quantities of sniper ammunition. He added that "there will be no facility like this anywhere in the world."
The proposal, which has faced criticism for its location and potential impact on views of nearby monuments, is moving forward as the administration prepares to break ground despite ongoing litigation. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum referenced the plan on September 4, and the White House and Pentagon have been contacted for further details.
