Boebert Denies Ethics Complaint Alleging Staff Affairs and Hush-Money Payment
Rep. Lauren Boebert called a recent ethics complaint alleging sexual relationships with staff and a $200,000 hush-money payment false, while the complainant maintains his allegations.
Rep. Lauren Boebert has rejected a complaint filed with the House Committee on Ethics that accuses her of having sexual relationships with three current and former staff members and of paying $200,000 as hush-money. The complaint was submitted by activist David Wheeler earlier this week.
"Congresswoman Lauren Boebert rejects these allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever. This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear her, and generate clickbait," a Boebert spokesperson told TMZ.
The spokesperson added that the accusations stem from an activist who has previously made sensational claims that were fact-checked as false. Wheeler, however, said he stands "100%" by his story and sources, asserting that "the facts are on our side" and that he will continue to report on Boebert despite personal and financial costs.
