Teen girl killed, another injured after truck hits bicycle in East Village

A large truck collided with a bicycle carrying two teenage girls on East 14th Street near First Avenue at about 9 p.m. on Friday. The 15-year-old victim was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, while the 13-year-old remains in stable condition after treatment at the same facility. Police said the driver, who was traveling westbound on 14th Street and turned right onto First Avenue, remained at the scene. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
"The driver stayed on the scene," police reported.
