Manhattan Construction Truck Fatality Prompts $62,000 Fundraiser
The New York Post reported that a fundraiser for the family of 15-year-old Daria Serkov, who was killed when a construction truck struck her Citi Bike on East 14th Street in Manhattan’s East Village, has raised more than $62,000. Police said a medium-duty Peterbilt turned into the bike lane and collided with the shared bicycle, killing Serkov and injuring a teenage passenger, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. The incident occurred on the night of September 18, and investigators from the NYPD and the Department of Transportation are reviewing video footage.
