Mistress testifies, offering alleged motive in Caleb Flynn murder trial
Fox News reported that jurors in the Ohio murder trial of former “American Idol” contestant Caleb Flynn heard testimony from his alleged mistress, Alleigha Botner, who described a year-and-a-half affair and presented text messages in which Flynn expressed a desire to kill his wife, providing prosecutors with an alleged motive. TMZ said prosecutors argued that Flynn pre-planned the February shooting of his wife Ashley Flynn, citing extensive messages that suggested premeditation. ABC7 Los Angeles added that prosecutors allege Flynn staged the crime scene to appear as an intruder attack.
The New York Post reported that during the second day of the trial jurors were shown graphic autopsy photographs while Flynn repeatedly sobbed, and prosecutors presented evidence contradicting his claim of an intruder. CBS News said Botner testified about the affair and the incriminating messages, and CNN noted that her testimony lasted two days. The Guardian reported that Flynn, a former pastor who appeared on “American Idol,” faces aggravated murder charges.
