Former complainant says 49ers knew of impersonation before arrest

A former complainant told the San Francisco 49ers that she had reported a man posing as a team player to the organization months before his arrest, challenging the franchise’s earlier statement that it had no prior knowledge. Federal investigators later said the suspect, Daejon Love, and a teenage accomplice, Taylor Chan, used the false identity and a fabricated investment scheme to defraud more than 60 women across the western United States of about $1.

3 million. The FBI’s investigation, which added 35 additional victims to the case, led to the pair’s arrest after a woman’s tip to authorities in Portland.
