Harrelson and McConaughey tease half-brother rumor as 'Brothers' premieres
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson said their new Apple TV+ comedy series "Brothers" blends real family rumors with fictional storytelling during a promotional interview on September 24. They noted that the show’s premise was inspired by the long-standing speculation that Harrelson’s father and McConaughey’s mother had a past relationship.
The actors first joked about the rumored half-brother connection at the 2026 Emmy ceremony, saying the anecdote helped shape the semi-scripted series. Apple TV released the two-episode debut on September 23, and at the Los Angeles premiere they said they have no plans to undergo a DNA test to confirm any familial link.
