Actor Mark Ruffalo Urges California AG Not to Settle Paramount Merger Lawsuit

Resumen

Mark Ruffero appealed to Attorney General Rob Bonta to continue the antitrust case against Paramount Skydance’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, warning that a settlement would harm filmmakers.

Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo posted a message on X urging California Attorney General Rob Bonta and a coalition of eleven state attorneys general to reject a settlement in the antitrust lawsuit challenging Paramount Skydance’s planned purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery. Ruffalo said more than 5,600 filmmakers and over 75,000 supporters have signed petitions opposing the deal, and he asked the public to pressure the AGs to reject the merger.

The proposed $111 billion transaction received Department of Justice approval in June, but the lawsuit filed by Bonta’s office has delayed its completion. According to a report citing anonymous sources, Paramount Skydance and the AG’s team are in advanced settlement discussions.

Ruffalo, who has been vocal about the merger, previously exchanged remarks with a Paramount representative after criticizing the Ellison family’s ties to Israel. Senator Elizabeth Warren also posted on social media, suggesting that the controversy could have broader political implications.
