Toys ‘R’ Us to Open 120 New Stores in the United States This Holiday Season
Toys ‘R’ Us plans to add 120 standalone locations, raising its U.S. store count to 160, with some sites featuring Creator Studios for content creation.
Toys ‘R’ Us announced plans to open 120 new standalone stores across the United States during the upcoming holiday season, bringing its total U.S. locations to 160. The retailer said the new outlets will stock popular toys and collectibles from brands such as Lego, Barbie, Hot Wheels and Pokémon. Select stores will also include "Creator Studios," designated areas where influencers, content creators and toy manufacturers can produce social-media content.
"This is a major moment for Toys ‘R’ Us as we significantly expand our presence across the United States," said Jamie Uitdenhowen, executive vice president of Toys ‘R’ Us at WHP Global.
The company has not disclosed the full list of new locations, directing shoppers to its online store locator for updates. The expansion follows the brand’s return to brick-and-mortar retail after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2017 and liquidating its U.S. stores in 2018.
