Trump Returns from Camp David as Iran Sends Conditions Ahead of UN Address

Resumen

President Trump came back to the White House early, while Iran conveyed cease-fire conditions through Qatar; the administration is preparing for the president’s upcoming UN General Assembly speech.

President Donald Trump arrived back at the White House Saturday night after departing Camp David earlier than scheduled, landing at the Ellipse around 8 p.m. His return comes as officials assess Iran’s recent proposal, which Tehran said it delivered to the United States via Qatar as conditions for ending hostilities.

U.S. officials have not yet confirmed a response to the Iranian offer, and the matter is expected to feature in Trump’s remarks at the United Nations General Assembly next week. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz indicated the president will argue that Iran must be prevented from acquiring a nuclear weapon and will outline the administration’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

In addition to the UN address, Trump is slated to meet leaders of six Gulf Arab states, as well as the prime ministers of the United Kingdom and Japan, during his New York visit.

Separately, a Shanghai-based security firm temporarily restored internet access for Iran’s Persian Gulf Straits Authority, allowing the agency to resume vessel monitoring and toll collection despite U.S. sanctions. Experts warned the firm to review its compliance procedures after providing the service.

A Russian government document obtained by media outlets details a multi-year plan for expanded cooperation with Iran, covering finance, energy, aviation and transport projects aimed at mitigating the impact of Western sanctions.
