Irish Singer Aaron Rowe Shifts Criticism from Ed Sheeran to Robert Kraft Over Tour Controversy

Résumé

Aaron Rowe defended Ed Sheeran’s handling of a tour dispute and urged attention on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and alleged attempts to suppress pro-Palestinian voices.

Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe used an Instagram video on Friday to defend Ed Sheeran after the pop star’s promoter removed Macklemore from the Loop Tour following the rapper’s comments supporting Palestinians. Rowe said the public’s focus on Sheeran’s response was misplaced, arguing that attention should instead be directed toward New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and what he described as “Zionist lobbies” seeking to silence criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Rowe acknowledged that Sheeran’s statement after the incident could have been handled better, noting that the decision to cancel Macklemore’s appearance was made by the promoter Messina Touring Group under pressure from venues, which Rowe linked to Kraft’s influence. He expressed belief that Sheeran recognized the mistake and emphasized that the tour lineup collectively supports Palestinians in Gaza.

“You should be using this opportunity to highlight Robert Kraft, someone who tried to shut down free speech and silence voices calling out genocide,” Rowe said.

Rowe also criticized the Irish government, other national authorities, the media and the music industry for what he called insufficient action on the issue, despite their financial resources and influence.
