Singer-songwriter Duncan Sheik hospitalized in critical condition
The 56-year-old artist is in critical but stable condition, according to a family statement, with no further medical details released.
Singer-songwriter and composer Duncan Sheik, 56, was reported to be in critical but stable condition after being hospitalized, his family announced on his Instagram page on Wednesday. The statement asked for privacy and said no additional medical information would be shared at this time. Sheik, who rose to fame with the 1996 single “Barely Breathing,” has not disclosed the cause of his hospitalization. He had posted from a hospital earlier in August, noting that a brief stay allowed for reflection. The artist’s career includes eight studio albums, the most recent “Claptrap” released in 2022, and a Grammy Award for co-writing the Broadway musical “Spring Awakening.”
"We would like to share an update with Duncan’s fans and the public," the family post read. "Duncan is currently receiving medical care and remains in critical but stable condition. Out of respect for Duncan and our family, we will not be sharing any further medical details at this time. We kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time and will provide updates when appropriate," the statement added.
