ABC's "American Idol" to relocate production from Los Angeles to Atlanta for Season 25
"American Idol" will shift its filming location from California to Georgia for its 25th season, with judges and host set to shoot in the Atlanta area.
Season 25 of ABC's singing competition "American Idol" will be produced in Georgia, ending more than two decades of filming at Los Angeles' Red Studios Hollywood, Fremantle said on Tuesday. The move places judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, along with host Ryan Seacrest, in the Atlanta region. ABC has not provided a reason for the relocation, and Fremantle declined to offer further details. Auditions, which began on Aug. 25, are being conducted virtually across all 50 states and Washington, DC, and will close on Sept. 28. The season is slated to premiere in January 2027, though an exact date has not been announced. Episodes will be available the next day on Disney+ and Hulu, with live shows streaming on Disney+ for U.S. residents born between June 2, 1997, and Feb. 15, 2012. Prospective contestants can apply through the show's official audition website.
