Unverified Geekbench 7 Scores Suggest Apple M6 Chip Boosts Performance in Upcoming Mac Mini

Summary

A single Geekbench 7 result for Apple’s new 2nm M6 processor shows roughly 12% higher single-core and 27% higher multi-core scores than the M5, supporting Apple’s performance claims ahead of the Mac mini launch.

An unverified Geekbench 7 entry posted today provides the first glimpse of performance for Apple’s upcoming 2nm M6 chip, which will debut in the new Mac mini. The single-core score recorded was 4,071, while the multi-core score reached 22,783. For comparison, the M5 chip posted 3,641 for single-core and 17,948 for multi-core in the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

If the result is accurate, the M6 delivers about 12% faster single-core and 27% faster multi-core performance than the M5. Apple has marketed the M6 as the fastest single-threaded CPU, and the 4,071 single-core score currently tops all entries in the Geekbench 7 database, surpassing the M5 Max (3,731) and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme (3,396).

In the broader lineup, the M6’s multi-core score places it below higher-tier chips such as the M5 Ultra (52,516) and M3 Ultra (39,059) but ahead of the M5 Pro (33,593) and M4 Max (29,047). Relative to the original M1, the M6 is more than 2.5 times faster in this benchmark.

Apple plans to launch the Mac mini equipped with the M6 and M5 Pro chips, alongside a new Mac Studio featuring M5 Max and M5 Ultra processors, on Tuesday, September 22. GPU benchmark results for the M6 have not yet been released.
