Travis Kelce Details Early Interactions with Taylor Swift and Their Recent Engagement
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce recounted his initial attempts to meet Taylor Swift, their subsequent public appearances, and their recent engagement, while noting a childhood nickname given by his brother’s children.
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said his first attempt to meet pop star Taylor Swift occurred at her July 2023 Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium, when he tried to hand her a friendship bracelet but missed the opportunity because Swift did not speak before or after the show. Kelce recalled the incident on his New Heights podcast, adding that he felt "a little butt-hurt" about the missed chance.
He later invited Swift to attend a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, a suggestion he described on The Pat McAfee Show as "throwing the ball in her court." Swift accepted and attended the game with Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, before the two were seen together at a nearby bar.
During a bye week, Kelce traveled to Buenos Aires for the South American leg of Swift’s Eras Tour, where he met her father, Scott Swift, and received a on-stage shout-out when Swift sang, "Karma is that guy on the Chiefs, coming straight home to me."
In August, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram, captioning the post with a reference to Swift’s song "So High School." Kelce reportedly presented a custom-designed diamond ring created with Artifex Fine Jewelry’s Kindred Lubeck.
Swift’s subsequent album, The Life of a Showgirl, includes tracks that reference the relationship, and the pair made their first award-show appearance as a couple at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards, where Swift won multiple trophies. She thanked Kelce during her acceptance speech, noting that the album was inspired by the energy she felt while performing.
Kelce also revealed that his brother Jason’s children gave Swift a nickname when she first started dating him, a detail he described as "adorable" in a recent interview.
