Eagles to tap interior backups after Landon Dickerson placed on IR

Resumen

Philadelphia placed starting left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve with a knee bone bruise and will rely on backups Drew Kendall, Willie Lampkin and Micah Morris to fill the gap.

The Philadelphia Eagles placed starting left guard Landon Dickerson on injured reserve on Monday after he suffered a bone bruise in his knee during the first week of the 2026 season. General manager Howie Roseman said the team had confidence in its interior-line depth after evaluating backups during training camp.

The Eagles kept three interior linemen on the 53-man roster: Drew Kendall, Willie Lampkin and rookie Micah Morris. Roseman told reporters he was "really excited" about the ability of those players to step in if needed. Dickerson echoed that sentiment, noting his trust in Kendall, a 2025 fifth-round pick from Boston College, after seeing him practice against top defensive tackles.

Kendall, who played center in college, has been cross-trained at guard for the past two years and previously filled in for Dickerson during camp. He said he embraces the challenge of learning multiple positions. The team could also move Kendall back to center and shift Pro Bowl-selected Cam Jurgens to guard, a strategy previously avoided by former offensive-line coach Jeff Stoutland but potentially reconsidered by current staff.

Willie Lampkin, an undrafted player claimed off waivers in 2025, impressed during training camp and could serve as a starter or as the primary backup behind Kendall. Micah Morris, a sixth-round rookie from Georgia, remains a developmental option but may be activated for Week 2 if the Eagles need additional depth.

The coaching staff will decide which combination of Kendall, Lampkin, Jurgens and Morris provides the most effective interior line for the upcoming weeks.
