Valve announces Steam Frame headset pricing and purchase lottery
Valve revealed that its Steam Frame VR headset will start at $1,059, with a 1TB model at $1,299, and introduced a lottery-based waitlist for the first batch of buyers.
Valve confirmed that its Steam Frame headset will be available in two configurations: a 256 GB model priced at $1,059 and a 1 TB model at $1,299. Both versions include a copy of the VR title Half-Life: Alyx, which has been optimized for native operation on the device as well as streaming.
Prospective customers can sign up for a lottery that determines who may purchase the headset in the initial release. Sign-ups close on September 17 at 10 a.m. PT; winners will be notified and may place an order on September 18, while others will be placed on a waiting list. Purchasers will have 72 hours to complete their order.
Valve also listed optional accessories: an ergonomic kit ($59), a replacement-parts kit ($49), and a USB-C power supply ($29). A third-party Arcturus Vision Camera, priced at $149, adds color passthrough and spatial video recording. The camera’s shipment will be delayed until customers confirm a Steam Frame order.
Future modular upgrades, described by Valve designers Joy Lyons and Jeremy Selan, may include a replaceable head strap, additional battery modules, premium off-ear speakers, and adjustable eye spacers, though pricing and release dates have not been set.
The Steam Frame follows Valve’s earlier releases of the Steam Controller and Steam Machine, which were delayed from an originally planned early-2026 launch.
