Giants Earn First Victory of 2026 Season Behind Jaxson Dart and Coach Harbaugh
New York defeated Dallas 28-20 on Sunday, marking the Giants' first win of the 2026 campaign and their first season-opening victory since 2022.
The New York Giants secured a 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, delivering the team's first victory of the 2026 season and the first season-opening win since 2022. Quarterback Jaxson Dart threw three touchdown passes and added 54 rushing yards, demonstrating command of the offense in his second year.
"I just think that we have so much respect for coach Harbs, and this team will do whatever he says because we have all the faith that he’s going to put us in the best situation to win," Dart said. "The identity of a team starts at the top and it starts with how he’s conducted himself, with how he’s created a tough team. We want to take that on our shoulders and we bought in to what his plan is week in and week out."
The victory gave the Giants their first opening-day win since 2022 and sparked speculation about a potential playoff run, though head coach John Harbaugh cautioned against premature expectations.
