Statue of Turning Point USA Co-Founder Charlie Kirk Vandalized in Phoenix
A bronze statue of Charlie Kirk outside Turning Point USA's headquarters was defaced with red spray paint shortly after its unveiling, prompting a police response.
A bronze memorial to Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was vandalized with red spray paint on Sunday in Phoenix, Arizona, just days after its installation. The statue, which was unveiled on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of Kirk’s death, was targeted with paint on the neck area, the spot where Kirk was shot in 2021.
Turning Point USA’s chief operating officer, Tyler Bowyer, posted on X that the monument and an accompanying sign had been defaced, describing the act as a criminal act. Phoenix police confirmed they received calls reporting the vandalism and are investigating the incident.
Kirk, a prominent figure in the conservative youth movement, was killed while speaking at Utah Valley University. The suspect, Tyler Robinson, has pleaded not guilty to murder charges and faces a possible death penalty.
Turning Point USA alleges that the vandals intentionally sprayed the statue’s neck to reference the location of Kirk’s fatal shooting.
