McConaughey praises Texas' comeback over Ohio State with three-word tweet
Actor Matthew McConaughey posted a three-word message on X after Texas erased a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Ohio State 24-23, a win that moved Texas to the top of a poll.
Texas rallied from a 20-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat No. 1 Ohio State 24-23, securing the top spot in one of the major polls on Sunday. The comeback was sparked by a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from Arch Manning to Ryan Wingo, followed by a 1-yard touchdown run by Hollywood Smothers with 7:14 remaining. Ohio State’s Connor Hawkins missed a 45-yard field goal that set up the Longhorns’ winning drive.
Actor Matthew McConaughey, a longtime Texas fan, posted on X: "Belief. Backbone. Heart. That's Texas Fight. Hook em."
Manning said, "When that happened, I knew it was our time. I’m really proud of the way we responded. We could have let that thing go. It’s a testament to our coaches and our culture."
The victory is viewed as a significant regular-season win for head coach Steve Sarkisian and a key moment for Manning, who has faced high expectations early in his career.
