Oklahoma State fans remove goalpost after upset win over Oregon

Resumen

Oklahoma State defeated No. 6 Oregon 39-31, prompting fans to storm the field and carry a goalpost to a nearby pond, an act that could lead to a conference fine.

Oklahoma State defeated the No. 6 Oregon Ducks 39-31 on Saturday, overcoming a 23.5-point spread and ending a 21-game losing streak against FBS opponents. The victory, the first for head coach Eric Morris at home, was secured by a late fourth-down stop and a strong performance from quarterback Drew Mestemaker, who threw for 317 yards, two touchdowns and added a 109-yard rushing touchdown.

When the game ended, fans rushed onto the field and removed one of the stadium’s goalposts, carrying it about 15 minutes to Theta Pond where it was tossed into the water. Senator James Lankford posted a video of the scene on social media, noting the celebratory nature of the moment.

The Big 12 conference may consider a fine for the incident; similar penalties have been imposed on other schools for field-storming, though one fine was later rescinded.
