Actor Alan Ritchson and wife Catherine announce separation after 20 years of marriage
Alan Ritchson and his wife Catherine said they are ending their marriage after two decades and will focus on co-parenting their three sons.
Actor Alan Ritchson, 43, and his wife Catherine Ritchson confirmed they are separating after 20 years of marriage. The couple posted a joint statement on Instagram on Sept. 12, saying they will "continue alongside one another in a different way" and will prioritize friendship and co-parenting for the sake of their three sons.
The announcement noted that the pair have been married since 2006 and emphasized their continued respect and love for each other. They asked the public to respect their privacy during the transition, citing the need for compassion and space for their family.
Ritchson first met Catherine in a high-school ballet class, later reconnecting through a mutual friend before marrying. The couple has previously spoken publicly about their relationship, including reflections on their 15th anniversary and Ritchson’s diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which he said was supported by his wife.
In July, Ritchson appeared with Catherine and their children at the premiere of his film "Motor City," marking one of the last public appearances together before the separation.
